A primary objective of the first trip to Nigeria in 2008 was to distribute $6000 in scholarship money that was collected from the first Nigerian Dinner held at the Newman Catholic Student Center/Christ the Teacher University Parish at Northern Illinois University.
Though compulsory primary and secondary education is becoming a priority of the Akwa Ibom State, as we learned during our December 2013 trip, some families still need the funds for uniforms, books, etc. to send their children to school.
We have received a number of acknowledgments from students regarding how our funding has affected their lives. These Nigerian students are always grateful for any support they receive from ImaBridge Africa and our generous donors.
Since that first Nigerian Dinner when $6000 for tuition was raised and dispersed, thousands of dollars has been donated and used for educational purposes.
